’ What challenges are there to being a personal trainer?Friday, December 9th, 2011
One of the biggest challenges to being a personal trainer is working with people who don’t want the results they are looking for as badly as the trainer does. When someone comes to me with a serious problem – they need to lose a lot of weight, get their cholesterol and blood pressure under control or whatever and they don’t stick to the program, it can be very frustrating and discouraging.
So many people are under a tremendous amount of stress in their daily lives and often times, putting oneself last becomes the norm. This often means that people lose sight of what they are working for and can easily lose motivation. This is where having a trainer becomes so important. But it can be very difficult to fight against a client’s hectic work schedule or financial limitations that could sabotage their fitness program and there inevitably is a level of attrition. Losing a client to uncontrollable circumstances before they have accomplished their goal is probably the most challenging part of being a personal trainer.

Although many people love to complete their workouts outdoors, it is much better to complete them at an actual gym. It can be a lot more difficult to keep your fitness regimen up when you start outdoor workouts, primarily because there is no one there to provide any motivation. When you start working out at a gym, there will be personal trainers and coaches there that can help you stay motivated while you are on a fitness regimen.
If you have asthma or allergies and want to exercise outdoors, you can find yourself lacking quality exercise time. This is because pollen in the air may negatively effect you when you’re trying to exercise. It can be highly difficult for someone who has allergies or asthma to complete outdoor workouts. Gyms are far better places to exercise at.
If you try to complete your workouts outdoors, you are usually more likely to be sidetracked by neighbors chatting with you or by you stopping to see the trees and flowers around the neighborhood. Gyms have trainers and coaches that will make sure that you stay motivated enough to complete any fitness regimen. Exercising outdoors can turn into more of a leisurely time than it really should be. To get any fitness training done, you should enroll in a gym and have a personal trainer or coach mentor you in order to fully achieve a great level of fitness. Now you should be able to see why working out at a gym is so much better than working out outdoors.

Exercise can be a daunting task any time of the year, especially in the hot summer months. Trying to jog or walk in the heat of the day can be miserable and quite a tough task. The heat may even discourage some from trying to exercise. However, exercise is important year round, and staying hydrated is one of the most important tasks to remember when exercising in the heat.
Not only should you keep water with you while exercising in the heat, but it is important to drink water before you exercise as well. This will help keep you better hydrated during your workout. If you are walking or jogging, consider investing in some sort of hydration pack that you can wear on your waist or back so that you have water accessible at all times. If you will be participating in a very high intensity workout, consider a sports drink like Gatorade to help hydrate you as well. Following your exercise you should continue to drink fluids to replace those lost during your workout.
If the heat still seems too overwhelming for exercise, try swimming. Swimming is a great activity to burn calories and help you stay in shape. It is still important to drink water though, as dehydration can still occur.
Don’t forget to wear sunscreen anytime you will be exercising outdoors. Make sure to choose a sunscreen that is water or sweat resistant, with an SPF of at least 15. It’s not impossible to stay in shape and exercise in the heat, but by following these tips, it will be much safer.
