Importance of Push Ups

Pushups are an excellent exercise. Done properly they can strengthen almost all the muscles in the body. Pushups obviously help you to build up your arms, but depending on how wide you spread your arms when you do pushups you can also widen and build up your chest. Your back muscles are also helped when you do pushups. The correct pushup position calls for you to keep your back straight as you go up and down. When you do this correctly, you strengthen the muscles in your back. Your stomach muscles are another beneficiary of a proper push up. In order to hold your body straight you must hold your stomach muscles tight. This plays an important role in strengthening your abdominal muscles. Your thighs and your calf are forced to take a good share of the weight of your body when you do this workout. If you do pushups well and often you will see great benefits to your lower body.
