How to Make Your Metabolism Speed Up
by Jack Kenefick on June 19, 2010
Metabolism burns calories. The fat burner of the body is your metabolism. Your metabolism can be controlled to make it speed up. Breakfast is an important meal. Your metabolism will speed up once you eat breakfast because your metabolism slows down overnight as you sleep.
Protein helps speed up your metabolism. Up to thirty-five percent of your total calories in a day should be from protein. Calcium is important because it makes the body burn fat faster. The way to do this is to consume dairy products that are low in fat. Three servings a day is ideal. Take a 1200 mg calcium supplement everyday.
High fiber carbs such as fruits and vegetables are best. Your metabolism may be slowed down by refined carbohydrates. A way to decrease your appetite is to eat jalapeno peppers and cayenne. The other benefit of doing this is that these foods speed up your metabolism. Four hours is the maximum amount of time that you should go between meals. Your metabolism will speed up if you eat five or six small meals a day.. Make sure each meal has the appropriate protein allotment. What you drink is important. Drink coffee in moderation. Drink eight to twelve cold glasses of water daily. Imbibing green tea speeds up the metabolism. Don’t drink alcohol.
If you don’t get enough sleep, your metabolism will slow down.. Exercise is a big helper. Your metabolism will speed up for up to eight hours after stopping any aerobic exercise you do.
