A Basic Nutrition Plan to Get Started On

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

Nutrition PlanA basic nutrition plan should start out with eating natural, whole foods like fruits, vegetables and natural sources of protein such as fish, poultry and lean meat.  One of the most important components of a sound nutrition plan is splitting up your daily food intake over 5 meals rather than 2 or 3 like most of us do.  Simply eating smaller portions more often makes a huge difference in how efficiently your body processes and uses those calories.

So the simplest thing to start with is to split your meals up between (1) Breakfast, (2) Mid-morning snack, (3) Lunch, (4) Mid-afternoon snack and (5) Dinner.  By doing this, you are only giving the body enough calories to sustain you for the next 3 or 4 hours of activity.  So the body is forced to use all those calories for energy as opposed to storing excess calories as body fat.  This is the simplest way to get started on a nutrition plan that will help get you on your way to a slimmer healthier physique.

The Benefits of a High Protein Diet

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

High Protein DietOver the years there have been tons of fad diets to come and go. Diets such as the South Beach diet, the Atkins diet, the low fat diets and of course the low carb diets. All of which seemed to become ever so popular then vanish faster than they arrived. You ask why? Well for starters these diets promise you a quick weight loss fix with claims that sound too good to be true. Thats because they are too good to be true! Another reason is that they eliminate one or more of the essential 5 food groups, which is just counterproductive in the long-term. So instead of talking about the crappy fad diets, lets talk about something that has worked for both my clients and myself. There’s no fancy name for it, and there’s now magical overnight promises. It is just simply adding more protein to your daily diet. No drastic cutting of any other food group is involved, just adding additional protein to your daily diet. High Protein diets might not be for everyone, but below I have highlighted some of the benefits that are associated with higher protein diets. (more…)
