by Jack Kenefick on February 14, 2012
In light of Valentine’s Day, I decided to share with you my top 5 favorite Italian places in Newport Beach! If you haven’t made plans with your special someone, you should consider taking them to one of these fine Italian places for a great meal and true authentic Italian feel.
Right by South Coast Plaza, this restaurant captures the essence of old world authenticity- with New Italian Cuisine. Every dish is authentic Italian prepared with the freshest ingredients. Besides the amazing food, Antonello’s boasts a wine list that has over 700 foreign and domestic labels. If you think this might be the place to take your sweetheart tonight, below is a link to their site and one to tonight’s Dinner Specials. This is go to for me all the time. Can’t go wrong by eating at Antonello’s!

Part of the nationwide chain, Maggiano’s always has me coming back for more. Unlike many other Italian Restaurant Chains, Maggiano’s offers some of the best Italian Cuisine in the area. You would expect Italian food of this nature to be pretty expensive, but at Maggiano’s that’s not the case. You get the best value as well as some exceptional service. I recommend this place all the time to people looking for great food, a great environment and reasonable prices.

Roma Cucinas have begun to pop up all over Orange County and its no wonder why. Since 2001, the Roman Brothers have been serving simple and delicious Italian Cuisine with their no nonsense, nothing-fancy approach. The service is outstanding and their food is out of this world. If you are looking for a casual authentic Italian dinner, be sure to stop in one of their 4 locations throughout Orange County!

This tiny Italian gold mine is located right next to the 55 north on Newport Blvd. Since it’s so tiny, it gives you that cozy feeling with only about a dozen tables and room for 4 at the bar. The food is great, the service is fast and the intimate setting just tops it off. The menu is extensive and everything is cooked to order including the calzones and pasta! FYI, by far the best cannolies in town!

There’s a reason why this restaurant chain known best for its pasta dishes, are located all over the country, including Orange County. With two Farley close by I frequent this place a decent amount. Whenever I’m craving some great pasta dishes there’s no second-guessing in my mind, It’s Romano’s Macaroni Grill. The menu is classic and filled with all kinds of pasta dishes as well as plenty of other Italian favorites. Check out the one in Irvine or Huntington Beach.
